Searching for answers

Your children have been introduced to the topic of genetics in the classroom. They could use your help to reinforce the learning concepts.
The children have been learning how to define genetics. They are in the midst of answering the questions how does heredity relate to genetics, and why do children look like their parents. I give you an excellent source of information provided by KidsHealth for parents. This will offer you a brief introduction to the topic of genetics.
One activity in that students are required to participate is examining facial features of their parents and themselves. They will create a chart labeled with eyes, ears, nose, mouth, chin, cheeks, and hairline. They will describe each feature of each parent as well as themselves in that chart. What features did you pass down to your child? Students will identify what facial features they have inherited. This is a fun activity for you to get involved with your child. Enjoy it! Please make sure your child brings at least one family picture that would help display the inherited genes. I cannot wait to see the results! The chart along with one-three pictures is due at the end of the week.
